How to care Himalayan Persian cat to get live long for more than 12 years

Himalayan cat or the Himalayan Persian cat is one of the domestic cat breeds which is the result of a crossbreeding between a Persian cat and a Siamese cat. This cross aims to get a cat breed with the same body type as the Persian cat, but with a color pattern like the Siamese cat. Himalayan cats are very synonymous with blue eyes.

Himalayan Persian cat has a fat or large body and has short legs like Persian cats in general. Therefore the Himalayan Persian cat is difficult to jump but on the other hand there are other races of the Himalayan Persian cat that has a body like a Siamese cat which means it has a slim and graceful body.

When viewed from the posture characteristics of the Himalayan Persian cat, it is known as a cat that has a fairly large body and strong bones. The Himalayan Persian cat weighs approximately 4 to 6 kg.

Himalayan Persian cat has a round, full head and a snub nose. Now, from the origin of the Himalayan Persian cat, it can be divided into two types, namely traditional and extreme. Meanwhile, the Himalayan Persian cat's head is white, dominated by a brownish color like the Siamese cat.

The ears have a dark color like the Siamese cat. The size of the ears is also short like the Persian cat in general. Meanwhile, the Himalayan Persian cat's eyes have round blue eyes and are rather large.

And on the legs, the Himalayan Persian cat has short legs with a dark color compared to the body color. Because the Himalayan Persian cat's legs are covered with thick fur and supported by large and strong claws.

Those are some of the characteristics of the Himalayan Persian cat that you need to know and basically the Himalayan Persian cat has the strength to survive about 9 to 15 years. But the Himalayan Persian cat can live longer if you take maximum care of your cat.

Another uniqueness of the Himalayan cat

1. The color of the fur can change

Maybe we never thought that the cat's fur could change color. But it turns out that it might happen. The uniqueness of this Himalayan cat is not owned by other races. This cat was born with white fur because when in the womb the temperature was warm. Over time the color of the fur changes.

For example, on the feet, hands, paws, tail, face and ears the color of the fur becomes dark. Meanwhile, dark colors are believed to be a form of the body's ability to absorb and retain heat better. The lighter the coat color, it means that the body part can not hold heat well.

2. Its origin is not from the Himalayas

When we hear the Himalayan cat we think that this type comes from the Himalayas. In fact this cat is not from the area. The name Himalayas is taken from a type of rabbit that has the same physical appearance, especially the color of its fur.

3. Likes with cold places

Another uniqueness of this race is its preference for cold places. Himalayan cat breeds have a snub nose. This condition makes this cat sensitive to hot air. When you feel in a hot place, the health of the respiratory system can be disturbed. Therefore, when you want to maintain it, also consider the temperature or climate in your area.

4. Calm personality

Just like humans, cats also have different personalities. This type of Himalayan cat is an animal with a calm personality. This breed also likes to be pampered and is known to be friendly, loyal, and loving.

5. The result of crossing two different breeds

Himalayan cat is the result of a cross between the Persian race and the Siamese race. This cross took place in the 1920s. However, the new Himalayan name was pinned in 1957 and inaugurated by the Cat Fanciers Association.

6. Do not have the ability to jump

We may often see cats jump from one place to another. Even cats can jump from a height without getting hurt. However, this ability is not owned by the Himalayan cat. The Himalayan body is short and the size of the legs is also small. Therefore, he does not have the ability to jump.

7. Group of house cats

Himalayan cats are house cats because they do not like to travel. This cat is more often silent and relax in the corner of the house. So it is very suitable as a pet.

How to Care for Himalayan Cats

When you want to keep a cat, then you must understand how to care for the pet. For himalayan race cats, how to care is not difficult.

1. Providing the right food

The first thing to consider when deciding to have a cat is to choose the right food. Choose healthy and nutritious foods. Food is needed to support the growth and development of cats. Make sure to give the cat special food and don't give the cat rice. Because the high glucose content in rice is not needed by cats. You can give fish or meat as a source of protein. In addition, vegetables such as carrots can also be added. But if you're not sure about homemade food, there are plenty of cat food vendors out there. You can buy at the pet shop. In addition to practical, ready-made food is also guaranteed nutritional content. In addition to staple foods that are consumed every day, don't forget to also give vitamins. The function of this vitamin is to keep the cat's fur growing healthy.

2. Give food regularly.

The next way to care for a Himalayan cat is to give it food regularly. This is so that the cat's nutrition is always fulfilled. In addition, providing regular food is also beneficial to train discipline in cats.

3. Routinely clean the cage

Cleanliness of the cat cage must also be considered. Because a clean cage will make the cat's body always clean. Thus the cat will be protected from various diseases.

4. Clean the place to eat and drink

Apart from the cage, the cleanliness of the place to eat and drink must also be maintained. As much as possible wash the place to eat and drink after use. But make sure to wash thoroughly and dry before use. This is because there are also cats who are allergic to the smell of soap.

5. Regularly change drinking water

Cat drinking water is usually given in a special container. But usually the drinking water does not run out in one day. Even if there is still plenty of water, it's best to throw away the cat's drinking water and replace it every day. This is necessary to maintain the health of the cat. It is not impossible that in the water there are parasites or microorganisms that can cause a cat to get sick.

6. Cleaning the cat litter box

We usually provide a special tub where the cat litters. Don't forget to regularly clean the tub. This is necessary to maintain a clean environment and prevent disease in cats or humans. Because cat litter can also affect the health of other living things.

7. Playing with cats

Himalayan cats are house cats, but it doesn't mean they don't need an outdoor atmosphere. As an owner, you must regularly take your cat to play or go outside the house. This is to prevent the cat from being stressed.

8. Bathe the cat regularly.

The next treatment that must be done regularly is bathing the cat. If you don't have time to bathe yourself, now there are many services for bathing a cat. When bathing the cat, make sure to use shampoo and soap that are suitable for the cat. Do not forget to dry the cat's body. This is to prevent the growth of fungus that causes hair loss. The drying process can be done manually or using a hair dryer.

9. Check your cat's health and get vaccinated.

You should also check your cat's health frequently to the vet. In addition, special vaccinations for cats are also required. It aims to prevent cat diseases and infectious diseases from cats to humans or vice versa.

That's a short story about our togetherness in raising a male Himalayan cat named Puput which can be your reference before adopting this breed of cat.
